5 Inspirational Ideas For Your Newborn Session
Need some inspiration when picking out props for your newborn session? Want to make it unique and personal? Check out these great ideas for adding sentiment to your photos.
1. Recreate a family photo
These types of photos are fun to show the same pose with different children in your family. Show us a photo of you or your other child(ren) as a newborn and let us create a similar photo with your newest addition.
2.Blankets
Bringing a blanket with sentimental value helps to add interest and a story to the photo. For example, if it was quilted or crocheted by nana then you’re adding that special touch and remembering older generations in a newborn photo. Maybe it was a blanket that you or your significant other used as a baby. Blankets also come in a wide variety of textures and colors, which adds both depth and visual appeal to your photograph. Lastly, Aside from the main focal point (the baby!) a special/ unique blanket adds another component to the shoot that really makes it your own.
3. Your House
If we do a session at your house, the setting itself will lend sentimental value to your images. This is the house that you brought your baby home to, the one where they first lived. This is the nursery you decorated for them. The possibilities are endless.
4. Occupation or Hobby
If you or your spouse love your job and want to add something from it or from one of your hobbies, this will help add a personal touch. Some examples are: badges, sports helmets/equipment, musical instruments, a briefcase, a camera, even a jersey or a hat. Let us know what you’re thinking and we can get it planned.
5. Wedding Rings
This is a classic shot. Having your child hold your wedding rings in their little hands or placing them between their tiny toes is a beautiful way to incorporate your marriage — signifying familial love and a strong bond — into the shot. Although this photo can be seen as somewhat common, many newborn photographers have it in their collections, it is unique to you. These are your personal rings, and they show the commitment and love that you and your spouse have for each other and your family.
